Schrade Knives - A Brand with a Long History

Schrade Knives is a renowned American knife manufacturer, whose history is as long as it is tumultuous. The nearly one hundred and twenty-year story of the brand began in 1904. At that time, the company named Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in the small town of Walden, New York. Schrade products quickly gained popularity due to the incredibly high quality they offered. Around that time, other companies of a similar profile were also being established in the region, including the Ulster Knife Company and the Imperial Knife Company. After merging into the Imperial Knife Associated Companies, they also absorbed the Schrade Cutlery brand, creating Schrade-Walden Cutlery Co., Inc. The following years did not bring drastic changes to the company's operation until the beginning of this century.

In 2004, the rights to Schrade knives, as well as the trademarks Uncle Henry and Old Timer, were acquired by Taylor Brands. Taylor himself was by then an experienced knife designer, having collaborated with Asian manufacturers since 1975. The discontinuation of production in the USA was initially not well-received, but through years of project development and production improvements, the company has returned to its old tracks and currently delivers good quality knives at attractive prices.
