The Ka-Bar Modified Tanto (1266) knife, made in America, is a modified version of the legendary Ka-Bar 1217 knife. An aggressive blade with a modified blade geometry, secured with a double-sided crossguard, embedded in a Kraton G handle, topped with a massive steel head. Supplied with a rigid cover made of GFN-PA66 composite (polyamide with an admixture of glass fiber).
The Modified Tanto Knife (1266) from Ka-Bar has a Plain edge blade in the shape of a modified Tanto Point with a flat cut, made of one piece of high-quality carbon steel with an admixture of chrome and vanadium 1095 Cro-Van, 4.3 millimeters thick. The blade has a small ricasso over the crossguard and a false cutting edge that takes up 3/4 of the length of the blade's back. In order to eliminate light reflections and protect the steel against external factors, the blade was covered with black powder paint.
The handle of the Modified Tanto knife is made of Kraton G (thermoplastic polymer rubber), characterized by very good grip to the hand and excellent shock absorbing properties. It has a prominent, double-sided steel guard that prevents your hand from slipping onto the blade, and a solid steel head that can be used as an improvised hammer.
The knife comes with a stiff and extremely durable sheath made of GFN-PA66 composite, adapted to carry the knife on a belt and more. The knife cover is compliant with MOLLE/PALS standards, which allows for any installation on modular platforms compliant with this standard.
