The Ka-Bar USN Mark I Black knife (2221) is a refreshed version of the USN MK 1 model issued for the United States Department of the Navy during World War II, completed with a modern GFN cover. A medium-sized blade with an elongated Clip Point spine, secured with a front guard, embedded in a black Kraton elastomer handle, finished with a massive steel head.
The USN Mark I Black (2221) knife from Ka-Bar has a Clip Point-shaped blade with an extended spine bevel and a full flat grind, made of one piece of high-quality 1095 Cro-Van carbon steel with an admixture of chrome and vanadium, 4.2 millimeters thick. The blade has a small ricasso above the crossguard and a false cutting edge on the spine at the top of the blade. In order to eliminate light reflections and protect the steel against external factors, the blade was covered with black epoxy powder paint.
The handle of the 2221 knife is made of Kraton G elastomer (thermoplastic rubber) in black. This material is characterized by high resistance to heat, weather conditions and chemicals, while maintaining flexibility and adhesion. The use of this material significantly improved the grip and stability compared to the original. The handle has a prominent, frontal steel guard that prevents the hand from slipping onto the blade, and a solid steel head that can be used as an improvised hammer.
The set with the knife includes a light and extremely durable cover made of the GFN-PA66 composite (nylon hardened with glass fiber) in black, adapted to conveniently carry the knife on a belt in a vertical position, and thanks to many attachment and anchoring points compatible with the MOLLE/PALS system , we can easily install it in any section of our equipment. The cover is equipped with a loop with a steel latch that stabilizes the knife handle and a loop with a latch that prevents the knife from being drawn from the holster, which perfectly protects against the loss of the knife in the event of dynamic overcoming obstacles or an unauthorized attempt by third parties to draw it.
