The Ka-Bar Becker Harpoon knife (BK18) is a solid and compact survival knife with a Full Tang construction, made of Cro-Van class 1095 carbon steel, equipped with an extremely durable handle made of polyamide by BASF, available under the trade name Ultramid®, sold in set with a stiffened Celcon® acetal copolymer cover, MOLLE/PALS compatible.
The knife was designed by the well-known and respected knifemaker Ethan Becker, founder of the BK&T company, which in 2009, together with Ka-Bar, issued a series of Becker Knives.
The Becker Harpoon Knife (BK18) has a massive blade with a Harpoon Point profile with a high flat grind and a plain cutting edge starting with a slight notch, made of carbon steel with an admixture of chrome and vanadium Cro-Van 1095 with a thickness of 4.5 millimeters, which generates extraordinary durability of the knife, even during the heaviest camp work. This tool is completely covered with a layer of epoxy paint, powder-coated to eliminate light reflections and protect the steel against corrosion and external factors.
The knife has an ergonomic handle made of Ultramid, thanks to which the knife fits perfectly in the hand, and the delicately textured surface of the handle lining guarantees a firm grip even with a wet hand. The base of the blade has a prominent guard protecting the user against accidentally sliding his hand onto the blade. The handle also has an exposed head, which is a prominent glass breaker that can successfully act as an improvised hammer. The handle has a hole in the head, intended for a wrist safety lanyard. The handle linings are compatible with the Short Becker Knives standard, so we can replace the Ultramid with micarta (BK16HNDL).
The knife comes with a sheath made of Celcon® acetal copolymer, adapted to carry the knife on a belt and more. The knife cover is compliant with MOLLE/PALS standards, which allows for any installation on modular platforms compliant with this standard. Re-configurable sheath for the left hand. The cover is equipped with a snap strap that covers and stabilizes the knife handle.
