Spyderco Military 2 Digital Camo (C36GPCMOBK2) is the modern evolution of a legendary folding knife originally designed by Spyderco co-founder Sal Glesser. For over 25 years after the premiere of the Military model, its construction remained almost unchanged—until now. In this latest version, a series of improvements have been introduced, making the Military 2 even more durable, safer, and more versatile.

Instead of the previous LinerLock, the Military 2 is equipped with the Compression Lock®—a Spyderco signature mechanism known for its greater strength and safer operation. The main advantage of this lock is its placement on the spine of the handle, which allows the blade to be unlocked with one hand without having to position your fingers in the path of the edge. Additionally, the knife features a precisely engineered bushing system, ensuring proper blade centering and the correct tension during opening and closing.

The Military 2 maintains a lightweight and slim profile thanks to skeletonized steel liners, which are then nested in reinforced G-10 scales with a peel-ply textured surface. This design also facilitates knife cleaning and reduces its weight. The enlarged liners enhance the knife’s overall rigidity and support the four-position pocket clip, which can be attached on either side of the handle, in a tip-up or tip-down configuration. This marks a significant change compared to the first generation, which only offered a single carry option.

The full-flat-ground (Full Flat Grind) blade is made of proven CPM S30V steel, prized for its excellent cutting performance, good edge retention, and predictable heat-treatment process. In the future, Spyderco plans to introduce different steel and finish variations, much like with the first generation. The new iteration also features improved ergonomics: the choil (index-finger groove) has been slightly enlarged, and both the front and rear of the handle have been narrowed for a better grip.

The Spyderco Military 2 proudly continues the legacy of its predecessor, which remains in the company’s lineup alongside the new model. Thanks to its various potential iterations, it will likely serve as a platform for testing new steels, handle materials, and other innovative features. As such, it is a highly refined design and a worthy successor that is sure to be appreciated by folding knife enthusiasts and professional users alike.
