Spyderco Manix 2 is a medium-sized folding knife that combines modern solutions and design, as well as high-quality materials. Thanks to this, the knife is a universal and reliable tool, regardless of whether it will be used for camping or everyday use (EDC).
The blade was made of high-quality high-carbon CPM S30V powder steel from the Crucible steelworks. It is a material used mainly in high-end knives, which results directly from both the price and high technical parameters. To bring out as many functional features as possible, the Manix model has a full flat grind, which guarantees excellent cutting parameters.
The blade does not jam during operation and thanks to the appropriate aggression of the cut, it smoothly bites into the cut material. Properly selected blade length makes it a great EDC knife - for everyday use. The Spyderhole patented by Spyderco is used for one-handed opening of the blade. Its diameter of 14 millimeters has been selected so that access to it is convenient and the opening process is smooth and reliable. The operation of the opening mechanism is intuitive and easy for both right and left-handed people.
The handle of the Spyderco Manix 2 model was made with great attention to details, which affects both aesthetic value and reliability. The structure is based on solid, steel liners, to which linings made of durable G-10 material (pressure pressed glass fiber with phenolic resin) are bolted. Such a connection guarantees a very high stiffness and thus resistance to stress. The texture of the covers has been selected so that it is not too rough and at the same time guarantees a firm grip even when the hand is wet or wearing a glove. The handle profile is one of the most comfortable EDC knives available on the market. A clear choil, profiled undercutting for the index finger and jimping (cuts on the back and bottom of the liners) are the features that have the most significant impact on ergonomics.
The Spyderco patented Ball Bearing Lock is located between the handles. The hardened floating ball bearing contained in a high-quality polymer cover in the open position is pressed against the blade by a spring. The locking ball is resistant to deformation, thanks to which it guarantees a very long life and no play, even after several years of intensive use. For convenient carrying of the knife in the pocket, a clip is used, which was screwed with three torx screws. You can easily turn it to the other side of the handle. The rear part of the handle also has a clear, large hole for a safety rope, which additionally acts as a distance sleeve ensuring the rigidity of the structure.
