The Ka-Bar USSF TDI ASTRO MP (1480SF) knife, part of the USSF (United States Space Force) collection, whose colors refer to the United States Space Force established in 2019, is a light and extremely ergonomic tool for self-defense in CQB situations (Close Quarter Battle), designed by John Benner (founder of the Tactical Defense Institute) with the safety of uniformed services officers in mind.
The USSF TDI ASTRO MP (1480SF) knife from Ka-Bar, designed and signed by the Tactical Defense Institute from Ohio, is a small so-called last-chance knife. The knife is made of one piece of AUS 8A stainless steel, 3.3 millimeters thick. The Drop Point-shaped knife blade has a high hollow cut and a plain cutting edge. In order to eliminate light reflections and protect the steel against external factors, the blade is covered with a gray, matte, ceramic protective coating.
The handle of the USSF TDI ASTRO MP knife has a curved handle geometry typical of TDI knives (the drawn knife is gripped like a gun), making it easier to draw and operate the tool in a tight work environment. The blue handle linings are ergonomic and provide a significant grip, they are made of glass fiber reinforced nylon - this material is available under the trade name Zytel®. Additional corrugation on the back of the handle provides very good support for the thumb, increasing the stiffness of the grip and the strength of the thrusts.
The set with the knife includes a stiff and extremely durable, light gray sheath, made of polymer and adapted to carry the knife on a belt, via a polymer clip matching the color scheme, with the possibility of re-installation under the left hand.
