The Ka-Bar Short USMC knife (1250) of American production is a compact version of the legendary Ka-Bar 1217 knife, created for the US Navy during World War II. Aggressive blade, secured with a double-sided crossguard, embedded in a handle made of buffalo leather, finished with a massive, steel pommel.
The Short USMC knife (1250) from Ka-Bar has a plain edge Clip Point blade with a flat grind, made of one piece of high quality 1095 Cro-Van carbon steel with a thickness of 4.3 millimeters. The blade has a small ricasso over the crossguard, a wide, shallow, double-sided fuller and a false cutting edge on the back at the top of the blade. In order to eliminate light reflections and protect the steel against external factors, the blade was covered with black powder paint.
The handle of the Short USMC knife is made of pressed buffalo leather discs. It has a prominent, double-sided steel crossguard, preventing the hand from slipping onto the blade, and a solid, steel head that can be used as an improvised hammer.
In the set with the knife, we get an elegant, leather sheath, adapted to carry the knife on the belt in a vertical position. The scabbard is decorated with an embossed Ka-Bar brand mark, the crest and the USMC marking. It is equipped with a loop that holds the handle, fastened with a steel latch.
