Benchmade Meatcrafter (15500-3) is a professional hunting knife made of high-quality CPM-S45VN steel, which was created for trimming game, filleting, precise cutting and boning meat. Designed as a hybrid construction that combines the high cutting properties of skinning knives with the straight and flexible blade found in boning knives. Thanks to this, the Benchmade Meatcrafter is a universal tool that is ideally suited to both the preparation of hunted animals, as well as in the home and outdoor kitchen.
The Benchmade Meatcrafter is a lightweight fixed blade knife with a full tang design. Knives made of one piece of steel (full tang) are much more resistant to damage and breakage, which is why they are commonly used for heavier tasks by hunters, survival and bushcraft enthusiasts and soldiers. The knife has a thin blade (2.3 mm) with a length of 154 mm, made of martensitic stainless steel CPM-S45VN, designed as an improvement of S35VN steel. It is formulated with more nitrogen for higher hardness, more chromium for better corrosion resistance, more vanadium for longer edge retention and wear resistance, and more niobium for easier machining. This super steel is hardened to a hardness of 60-62 HRC, as a result of which the knife blade will not fail us even during demanding and long-term field work.
CPM 345VN steel is a high-alloy stainless steel with excellent edge retention, enhanced corrosion resistance, and moderate ductility. These properties make CPM-S45VN an ideal steel for building high-end hunting and survival knives. To obtain carbides of extraordinary hardness, S45VN has a high content of the elements vanadium/niobium and chromium for corrosion resistance. Vanadium carbides are currently among the hardest stainless steel carbides, which is why the blade stays sharp for an extremely long time and is extremely resistant to wear. The key role of the knife is the ability to cut, the S45VN stays sharp for much longer compared to its predecessor S35VN. You can feel the difference when planing and cutting demanding fibrous materials, cardboard and rope.
The knife has a tapered Trailing Point blade. A distinctive feature of such a blade is a slightly raised tip above (or in line with) the back of the knife. The flexible blade modeled on oriental scimitars has a blade with a clearly exposed belly, which affects great efficiency and ease of cutting. Thanks to the 28° SelectEdge™ technology (14° per side), the knife has a thin, perfectly sharp cutting edge that perfectly copes with precise cutting, slicing, filleting and boning of meat. As a result, the Meatcrafter guarantees extremely clean and precise cuts and means that we put much less force into the work.
The handle of the knife is made of G10 plastic with non-slip texturing ensuring a good grip even with gloves. The contoured grip has a large hole for a lanyard or safety line. On the back of the handle, a transverse milling was made, which creates a stable point of support for the fingers. This simple convenience allows for comfortable and accurate operation of the knife, which is crucial for the hunter when gutting the game. The profiled grip has lateral grooves and a lanyard attachment.
The set with the knife includes a sheath made of thermoplastic Boltaron. The sheath is very resistant to damage, temperature changes or moisture and will allow you to safely carry and protect the knife from damage. The sheath is compatible with the Tek-lok mounting buckle.
