Ontario Spec Plus Alpha Kukri (9719) is another knife model from the Spec Plus series, in which were designed that are intended to serve soldiers, uniformed services officers, survivalists and rescuers. Knives additionally marked with the Alpha name are even more oriented towards outdoor activities and are characterized by a more modern design.
The material used for the production of the knife is high-carbon steel 1075. It is characterized by very good cutting aggression and durability. However, it is susceptible to corrosion, so the manufacturer decided to cover it with a special protective coating made of zinc phosphate. It also protects the blade against scratches. Hardening at the level of 57-59HRC ensures very high hardness of the blade. The handle is made of synthetic rubber. It provides great grip to the hand and transmits vibrations very well. Thanks to this, the hand is less tired while working, minimizing the risk of injury.
Although the Spec Plus line products are heavily modeled on military constructions, in the case of the Alpha series knives we are dealing with a more modern design. The kukri model obviously refers directly to the traditional tool used by the Gurkha. This large and heavy blade in a modernized form is perfect for the toughest jobs. The flat grinding ensures adequate sharpness and durability of the cutting edge. With the help of Spec Plus Alpha Kukri, we can easily deal with chopping, baring and all camp work. The handle is made in a form well known from previous products from the Alpha line. Its shape ensures maximum ergonomics of the grip. The combination of innovative material with delicate texturing and deep ribbing of the narrower sides, provides excellent grip even in the most difficult conditions. In addition, at the end of the handle there is a hole through which you can thread a safety rope.
The knife, like all models from the Spec Plus Alpha series, has a durable nylon sheath fastened with press studs. It protects the cutting edge and allows you to conveniently carry the tool, e.g. at the belt or attached to a backpack or gear
