The Ka-Bar TDI Ladyfinger knife (1494) of American production is a light and ergonomic tool with a minimalist handle for self-defense in CQB (Close Quarter Battle) situations, designed by John Benner (founder of the Tactical Defense Institute) with the safety of uniformed services officers in mind.
The TDI Ladyfinger knife (1494) from Ka-Bar, designed and signed by the Tactical Defense Institute in Ohio, is a small, so-called last-chance knife, with a very slim handle. The knife is made of one piece of AUS 8A stainless steel, 2.3 millimeters thick. The knife blade has a Drop Point shape, has a hollow cut and a plain cutting edge. There is a slight false edge on the spine of the blade. In order to eliminate light reflections and protect the steel against external factors, the blade is covered with a black, matte, ceramic protective coating.
The handle of the Ladyfinger knife has a curved handle geometry typical of TDI knives (the drawn knife is gripped like a gun), making it easier to draw and operate the tool in a tight work environment. The handle linings provide a significant grip and are made of glass fiber reinforced nylon - this material is available under the trade name Zytel®.
The knife comes with a stiff and extremely durable sheath, made of polymer and adapted to carry the knife on a belt via a belt clip. The cover has been designed to be worn in many configurations.
