The Spyderco Street Bowie is an interesting knife with a fixed blade produced by the famous Colorado brand. The American manufacturer is famous for making practical EDC folders, which are perfect for most everyday tasks. Spyderco, however, also offers fixeds, as well as folding models characterized by original design and high quality of workmanship. Street Bowie was designed by Fred Perrin, a legendary French Army Commando soldier.
The model was made of Japanese VG-10 stainless steel. It is a material with incredible resistance to abrasion and mechanical damage. Thanks to this, the knife keeps sharpness perfectly and does not require additional maintenance or excessive care. The handle was made of FRN material, i.e. glass fiber reinforced nylon and inserts made of thermoplastic Kraton. Both materials are very resistant to
breakage and abrasion, and also guarantee a great grip on the tool.
The knife shape is a modernized version of the classic American Bowie. The large blade works well in a number of everyday and typical off-road applications. Adequate power reserve allows you to perform such heavy work as chopping or baring. At the beginning of the back, there are transverse notches that give good support to the thumb when performing more precise tasks. In the blade there is a classic SpyderHole® referring to the famous folders of the American brand. The handle of the Street Bowie model is very simple, but at the same time ensures appropriate ergonomics of use. A deep undercut under the index finger ensures that the knife will not slip out of the hand, nor will it fall onto the blade while working. The simple form allows the use of many grips for various works at the same time.
The knife comes with a sheath made of Kydex® material. The thermoplastic material guarantees a perfect fit to the shape of the tool, ensuring full safety of wearing it. The scabbard is equipped with a number of holes with which we can attach the Spyderco Street Bowie to the gear, or use it in conjunction with mounting systems such as tek-lok or the included G-Clip.
The Spyderco fixed blade knife is a great tool that can be used in a number of outdoor activities. The structure designed by Fred Perrin will prove useful, among others in typical tactical activities, as well as e.g. bushcraft or survival. Interesting design directly refers to the solutions known from the classic manufacturer's folders.
