IFB Fixed Blade Trailing Point is a modern tactical knife manufactured by Ka-Bar. The American brand is a real classic of the military industry. Its most famous product is the iconic Mk. 2. The famous structure with a handle made of leather discs and a prominent crossguard was used by the American marines already during the Second World War. Today, the Ka-Bar offer includes many more modern models, incl. convenient EDC folders or innovative tactical knives.
The Ka-Bar IFB knife was made of 8Cr13MoV steel. It is a modern material that manufacturers such as Spyderco, Cold Steel and many others eagerly reach for. Steel is highly resistant to corrosion, so it can also be used in a humid environment. In addition, it keeps sharpness quite well and is resistant to mechanical damage. The highly valued G10 material was used for the handle. This laminate of glass fiber and epoxy resin is characterized by exceptional durability and strength. The material is resistant not only to mechanical damage, but also factors such as moisture and temperature.
Ka-Bar IFB Fixed Blade Trailing Point is characterized by a more penetrating shape of the blade compared to the Drop Point version. Full-tang construction ensures adequate strength. Contrary to classic military knives, the product of the American brand is perfect for typical forest tasks, e.g. chopping or baring. A narrow blade with a trailing point profile guarantees high penetration of the tip, which will work well in more precise works. To slim down the four-millimeter blade, a wide shank was used, which is associated with the famous Ka-Bar Mk. 2. The handle has a relatively simple form, but appropriate profiling makes it extremely comfortable. The characteristic G10 texture guarantees excellent adhesion of the tool. At the beginning of the spine of the blade there are deep, transverse ribs that give the thumb a firm support for precise work. There is a hole at the end of the handle for a safety cable.
The knife set comes with a durable plastic scabbard. The injection-molded polymer ensures a perfect fit to the shape of the tool and therefore maximum carrying safety. The set of holes allows you to wear the IFB model on the attached loops, another mounting system (e.g. teklock), or attach it to your gear.
The knife produced by the American brand Ka-Bar is a great field tool that can cope with both precise work that requires the right sharpness, as well as heavy forest tasks. The company has been one of the industry leaders for years due to its consistently high quality. If you are looking for an off-road knife for yourself, be sure to check out the IFB Fixed Blade Trailing Point model.
