Gerber Gator Bolo Machete (31-002076)

Gerber Gator Bolo is another machete in a series of products inspired by traditional constructions. The American company, used proven designs, combines them with modern technologies, creating very practical and durable structures. The machete will be useful not only for typical route clearing, but also as a heavy, forest tool.

The material from which the head of the Gator Bolo was made is 1055 spring steel. This material is very resistant to chipping and cracks. This type of carbon steel is the perfect material for a machete, which can be sharpened quickly even in the field, and remains strong even when used for heavy duty. The only disadvantage of the 1050 is its rustiness - but the manufacturer also thought about it, coating the blade with a special, anti-corrosion powder coating. The handle is made of thermoplastic rubber, in the GatorGrip® technology patented by the Gerber brand. Its texture resembles alligator skin, giving excellent grip to the hand. This solution will be appreciated especially when working with sweaty or wet hands. In addition, the rubber used to make the handle perfectly absorbs vibrations, not tiring the grip too much, even during harder work.

The shape of the machete is strongly inspired by the classic pattern - Filipino bolo. However, Gerber adapted the original tool for more modern use. The center of gravity of the blade has been shifted forward, which makes it better for chopping and cutting harder materials. The durable flat grinding scandi ensures a very long maintenance of the working sharpness of the tool.
A big change from the classic bolo is the shape of the Gator Bolo handle. It is a modern form of grip typical for the Gerber brand, providing a very firm support for the hand. At the end of the handle there is a hole with a cord attached, thanks to which we can additionally protect the tool against slipping out of the hand. In the set with the machete, we also get a durable scabbard made of black cordura, allowing you to safely carry the tool or attach it to the backpack.
