Cold Steel Outdoorsman Lite San Mai III (35AP) is a medium-sized fixed blade knife, designed mainly for hunting or survival tasks. Thanks to the combination of modern design and high-quality materials, a universal tool has been obtained that will work both when dressing game and for light camping work.
The knife has a very durable construction, based on a thick, nearly 5 mm thick Drop Point shaped blade. It was made of high-quality San Mai III laminate, which consists of three layers of steel forged together, where the core is Japanese VG-10 steel, while the outer layers are 420J2 stainless steel. The laminate combines the best properties of both steels, because the rigid, hard and abrasion-resistant core is stabilized by two relatively soft, but resilient and high-impact layers. As a result, it significantly increases the blade's resistance to dynamic transverse loads, which arise, for example, during chopping, which protects the knife from breaking, but also provides excellent cutting properties.
The handle is made of a rubber-like and very durable Kray-Ex material, which absorbs some shocks, provides a comfortable and secure grip, even with wet or dirty hands. The set also includes a high-quality sheath made of Secure-Ex polymer, which can be attached to the belt with a belt loop or attached to the TekLok buckle.
