Cold Steel Recon Tanto San Mai III (35AM) is Cold Steel's best-selling fixed blade knife, which success is due to its simple design, excellent materials, durability and price. Its a great tactical knife but it can handle also Survival and Rescue tasks. It can also be used as a hunting knife or a working tool at any campsite.
The knife has a very durable construction, based on a thick, nearly 5 mm Tanto shaped blade. The model is made of high-carbon SK-5 tool steel, which is resistant to chipping and with this thickness of the blade it can withstand even rough treatment. Due to the high susceptibility to corrosion, the entire blade has been protected with a black Tuff-Ex protective coating.
The handle is made of a rubber-like and very durable Kray-Ex material, which absorbs some shocks, provides a comfortable and secure grip, even with wet or dirty hands. At the end of the handle there is a hole for attaching a rope loop, which will provide additional protection against accidental slipping of the hand on the blade during work. The set also includes a high-quality sheath made of Secure-Ex polymer, which can be attached to the belt with a belt loop or attached to the TekLok buckle.
