Plate Carrier MKIV is a functional SAPI ballistic plate carrier with divided pockets for rigid and soft armor. The 4th generation version has removable pockets for equipment and a front panel, as well as a quick release mechanism (cutaway), allowing the operator to quickly evacuate the weight of the equipment. Vest made of CORDURA®700D fabric and equipped with Acetal elements.

The Tasmanian Tiger company has been present on the market for almost half a century and is still associated with very high quality of workmanship and the use of innovative materials. TT products are very popular among people looking for reliable tactical equipment, including uniformed services officers. It is vests, pouches and various types of accessories that constitute the main business profile of the brand.

The vest consists of two panels, front and rear, which are connected and adjustable with suspenders and a cummerbund belt. The panels and shoulder straps are padded with shock-absorbing foam and mesh-structured fabric, which increases the comfort of use with significant loads thanks to the maintained air circulation under the carrier. Each panel has a two-chamber pocket for ballistic plates with access from the bottom, the chamber closer to the body is intended for a soft ballistic insert, while the outer chambers are adapted to install rigid armor plates in the SAPI/ESAPI standards. The outer chambers have an additional belt integrated with Velcro, which allows you to effectively immobilize the ballistic insert inside each panel. The ballistics pockets are secured with a closure in the form of an extensive Velcro tab with a long handle that makes opening easier (breaking the Velcro).

Almost the entire surface of the vest has sewn-in straps compatible with the MOLLE/PALS system, which allows for individual configuration of pouches and containers. The mounting platforms used in MKIV vests differ in the number of anchor points depending on the size of the vest, namely in the smaller size of the vest there are platforms with dimensions of 6 rows of tapes with 6 anchor columns in the widest part, while in the larger size of the carrier the manufacturer offers a platform with 7 rows of webbing with 8 MOLLE columns for anchoring pouches and pockets. On the front panel, in the upper section of the MOLLE straps, there is a patch of Velcro intended for patches or infrared identifiers. Under the mentioned identification section, there is a small pocket closed with Velcro, containing three elastic band grommets inside, allowing for stabilization of additional equipment placed inside. In the lower section of the front panel, there is a removable front panel, integrated with Velcro on almost the entire surface, with additional four Velcro straps that allow you to attach the top edge to the body of the vest (this is not necessary, especially when using multiple front panels with variable armament configuration). The replaceable front panel has eyelets in the lower part for anchoring with a tactical belt or dangler.

Under the replaceable front panel, there is a Velcro surface on which a skeletal cummerbund is attached, with 3 rows of webbing straps with 7 anchor points each (anchor points compliant with MOLLE/PALS standards). Each side of the cummerbund belt has a stiff stabilizer of the straps, located between the 3rd and 4th MOLLE column, filled with a plastic insert that effectively regulates the position of the straps along the entire length of the belt. In the rear panel part, the cummerbund belt is integrated with the body of the vest via a special interlacing, a plastic cable, which is an element of the cutaway system, allowing the immediate disintegration of the vest elements and freeing the operator from the burden of ballistic protection and equipment elements, this can be extremely useful in an emergency situation of injury in a wet area, when the vest makes it impossible to get out from under the water, and every second can decide about survival. In the back of the vest, under the openable outer panel (similar to the front, with the difference that the back panel is permanently integrated with the body of the vest), there is a fully configurable cummerbund and suspenders installation. The MKIV vest is fully adjustable, both in terms of the silhouette and the system of integrating the vest's elements. We can completely abandon the quick-cut system, thus creating a permanent vest, we can configure it for the left or right side using one or two shoulder pads, and we can also completely eliminate the back plane at all integration points or only at the harness attachment (recommended by the manufacturer and the most effective and safest solution is, of course, cutting off the selected side of the cummerbund along with both harnesses). The vest comes with a set containing all the necessary elements, allowing the use of each of the mentioned cutaway system configurations. The back panel also has an additional evacuation handle at the top of the back, allowing the evacuation of an injured operator from the danger zone, the handle has an additional Velcro in the central part, allowing the strap to be protected against accidental snagging on obstacles in the field.

An interesting additional element of the Plate Carrier MKIV vest from Tasmanian Tiger are two external pockets for magazines or communication systems, located in the immediate vicinity of the front, under the outer surface of the cumerbund. They are integrated with the front panel inside the ballistics pocket via Velcro straps, have external MOLLE panels cut with laser technology (2 anchor columns in 3 rows - 4 slots) and elastic compression of the side walls along with the bottom, which generates optimal pressure on the carried rifle magazines or radio receiver. For additional protection of the equipment being carried, they have webbing tape grommets on the tops (from the back and front), allowing for the installation of a bungee cord closure that can be slid onto the top of a magazine or communication tools. The pockets are detachable from the vest, which only highlights its extraordinary range of configurations and advanced design to meet the changing demands of various operational situations.

The last load-bearing element of the vest are the shoulder straps, equipped with cushioned tabs made of laminated Cordura. Each tab has 3 webbing grommets on each side, designed to accommodate the cutaway system cable. are integrated with the harness via Velcro and two polyamide fabric clamps with additional elastic bands (1 row with 2 anchor points on each clamp) allowing the installation of additional equipment, e.g. chemical light, hydration system tube, PTT communication device , such as: Peltor. The shoulder straps can be integrated with the front panel via Velcro panels or via a quick release buckle on one of the shoulder straps, which further simplifies putting on the vest, which is heavily loaded with equipment and ballistic protection. The buckle (model: Champion Buckle) and regulators (model: Smoothy Lock, patented by the manufacturer) used in the MKIV vest are products of the renowned Korean brand Woojin plastic®, specializing in designing and making elements from extremely durable Acetal.

Tasmanian Tiger Plate Carrier MKIV is, above all, a really comfortable solution even with a very heavy load. It is almost entirely made of a material typical of the German brand's products, i.e. CORDURA® polyamide fabric, items in uniform, unshielded colors are made of 700 DEN fabric, for which the Tasmanian Tiger brand is famous in the tactical assortment industry, while items in camouflage or shielded versions with the IRR camouflage effect, are made of lower grammage - Cordura® 500 DEN. Acetal elements are supplied by the renowned Korean brand Woojin plastic®.
CORDURA® 700 DEN. Composition: 100% polyamide.
CORDURA® with a fiber thickness of 700 den is a combination of high wear and tear resistance of the classic 1000 den fabric with the lightness of a fabric with a fiber thickness of 500 den. This material is characterized by long-term stability and high abrasion and tear resistance.
ACETAL. Composition: 100% acetal
Acetal is a crystalline thermoplastic polymer material. Acetal is characterized by excellent tensile strength, stiffness, surface hardness and chemical resistance. Acetal is characterized by excellent bending memory and retaining properties under repeated loads. The normal temperature range for short-term use is -40°F to +270°F (-40°C to +132°C). Acetal is recommended for high-performance applications, and Tasmanian Tiger uses this material for backpack buckles. The physical properties remain unchanged over a wide range of temperatures, relative humidity and weather conditions.
