Helikon Raid Shirt is a new version of a classic shirt. It creates a set with UTP, SFU Mk2, or BDU Mk2 Pants, but it will also work as a stand-alone lightweight shirt for patrol or city activities.
The Helikon Raid Shirt uniform sweatshirt is a classic in a modern version, ideal for tactical operations in both forest and urban terrain. Together with such pants as the UTP, SFU Mk2 or BDU Mk2 it forms a complete uniform set, however it will also work well as a stand-alone sweatshirt for various pants. Inspired by the tradition of tactical clothing, which dates back to the 1940s, Helikon has created a product that combines timelessness with modernity.
The Raid sweatshirt uses a raglan construction, where the sleeves are sewn directly into the collar, eliminating the shoulder seams. This design enhances comfort, especially when wearing suspenders or plate carriages, which in traditional cuts could cause discomfort. Although this type of cut is rare in the uniform industry, the US Army, among others, has been convinced by it, using it in its latest IHWCU (Improved Hot Weather Combat Uniform). The sweatshirt is sewn from Polycotton Stretch Ripstop fabric, which consists of 48% cotton, 50% polyester and 2% elastane. This makes the material slightly stretchy, providing greater freedom of movement.
The cut is equipped with eight pockets with handles for attaching gear to prevent it from getting lost. On the chest there are two classic pockets sewn on at an angle, fastened with Canadian buttons. In addition, there are two mesh pockets inside the sweatshirt: one with a zipper and an open one, ideal for a map or notepad.
The sleeves each have two pockets sewn on at an oblique angle, with two fastening options: small Velcro or Canadian buttons. This design allows you to adjust the fastening to different conditions - Velcro is fast and convenient, but in wet conditions it can lose its properties, while buttons always work flawlessly. On the shoulder pockets there are additional smaller pockets for small items and compartments for a pen or pencil.
Uniform sweatshirts have a long history, dating back to World War II. The first heavy-duty M42 parachute uniforms developed by the US Army were a precursor to later models, such as the TCU (Tropical Combat Uniform) used during the Vietnam War and later the BDU (Battle Dress Uniform). Since the 1990s, it has become popular to make modifications at the request of soldiers, such as additional pockets or Velcro. The Raid sweatshirt is a modern interpretation of these enhancements, designed to make a soldier's life easier and provide maximum comfort and functionality.
