Vortex Razor HD 4000 is the manufacturer's flagship laser rangefinder, created especially for sports shooters and hunters who are looking for a precise and reliable distance measurement tool. This unique rangefinder allows for quick and accurate target acquisition, up to 3,600 meters.
Vortex Razor HD 4000 has four measurement modes (Normal, First, Last, ELR, SCAN) and two distance measurement methods (LOS, HCD), which allow you to make every accurate shot in terrain with different inclinations.
The rangefinder is characterized by a compact and extremely light design, weighing only 280 grams. Thanks to this, it can be easily carried around the neck or belt using the elastic clip. The light and at the same time durable magnesium body is finished with rubber armor to effectively protect the sensitive optics against damage in the event of a fall and ensure a secure grip. The device has a diopter adjustment on the right eyepiece and a standard thread for mounting on a tripod. Using a tripod to stabilize the rangefinder increases the ability to measure small objects, especially at longer distances.
Moreover, Vortex Razor HD 4000 is waterproof thanks to the thorough sealing of the structure. You can use it without worrying about moisture, dust or contamination, which makes it an irreplaceable tool during changing weather or difficult terrain conditions.
The HD Vortex optics system covered with multi-layer XR coatings guarantees high-quality images, regardless of lighting conditions. Anti-reflective coatings on the lenses ensure excellent light transmission and image brightness even in low light conditions. HD optics are characterized by exceptional resolution, eliminating chromatic aberration and ensuring faithful color reproduction and sharpness of the field of view right to the edge.
The lenses are additionally protected against scratches and dirt thanks to the ultra-hard ArmourTek coating. Measurement results are displayed on an OLED screen with increased light transmission, optimized for use in low light conditions. The contrasting red backlight is great for situations where you need to measure a dark target. The optical system with 7x magnification provides a wide field of view, which guarantees comfortable observation and tracking of moving objects.
The greatest advantages of the Vortex Razor HD 4000 are its long range, reaching over 2,700 meters (for targets that reflect the laser beam well), and the extraordinary measurement accuracy of only 0.46 meters. The 25 mm diameter lens provides an angular field of view of 6.5 degrees, and the minimum measurement distance is only 4.5 meters. This device will certainly meet the expectations of shooters and hunters, ensuring reliability and precision at every step.
Vortex Razor HD 4000 measurement parameters:
- Maximum measurement range for objects that reflect the laser beam well: 2743 m
- Measurement range for objects that reflect the laser beam less strongly, e.g. trees, rocks: 2286 m
- Measurement range for objects that weakly reflect the laser beam, e.g. deer: 2011 m
The rangefinder uses HCD (Horizontal Component Distance) angular compensation technology, which allows for precise shots at critical distances. It is also worth emphasizing that the device has a simple and intuitive menu that takes a few minutes to master. There are only two buttons for operation, i.e. the measurement switch and the button that activates the rangefinder menu. The measurement is expressed in 2 units, i.e. meters or yards.
The device is powered by a CR2 battery, which provides up to 4,000 individual measurements. To extend battery life, the rangefinder automatically turns off after 20 seconds of inactivity. Replacing the battery is simple and does not require tools, thanks to the conveniently opened flap.
When the battery level drops to 25%, a notification appears on the display to remind you to change the power source. To extend battery life, the rangefinder automatically turns off after 20 seconds of inactivity. There are also 5 display brightness levels to choose from.
Measurement modes:
NORMAL - displays the distance of the actual aiming point. When the rangefinder is turned on, it is factory set to NORMAL mode. This is the standard mode for most applications, providing precise measurement of very distant objects.
FIRST MODE - calculates the distance from the target in the foreground. A mode intended for measuring smaller targets, e.g. animals located in front of a forest wall, or objects that are more reflective of light
LAST MODE - displays the distance to the object in the background. Long-distance measurement mode, ideal for tracking a small target behind a group of large objects, e.g. animals behind trees, rocks, etc.
LOS (The Line of Sight) - a special measurement mode intended for long shot shooters who shoot at distances over 457 meters (500 yards) in terrain with an inclination of more than 15 degrees, using tables, calculators or ballistic applications that correct bullet fall. Range measurement in LOS mode is measured without ballistic correction for terrain slope. Most ballistics applications and calculators provide independent slope correction for bullet drop, so they require an indication of the actual distance. When shooting at long range in steep terrain, the LOS mode allows the bullet's windage correction to be calculated with much higher accuracy than using HCD measurement.
HCD - mode for measuring the distance to a target located on the same plane as the rangefinder. This is the basic mode used in shooting and archery. The measurement expresses the actual distance to a target located on the same plane as the shooter. The displayed HCD distance is corrected for the shooting angle and does not require additional corrections by the shooter. HCD Mode Applications:
- shooting with a rifle on level ground at any distance
- rifle shooting at a distance of up to 640 m (800 yards) in terrain with a gentle slope (less than 15 degrees)
- shooting with a rifle up to a distance of 366 m (400 yards) in terrain with a moderate slope (from 15 to 30 degrees)
- archery
EXTENDED LASER RANGE (ELR - measurement mode with increased laser range) - allows you to target small, far away targets that reflect the laser beam less strongly. ELR is recommended when the NORMAL mode does not allow us to make proper measurements. In ELR mode, the measurement time is longer. To obtain a precise reading, it is recommended to use the rangefinder on a tripod.
SCAN - a function designed to continuously read the distance of a moving target. The scanning feature can be used to determine distances from moving targets or help identify smaller targets against a solid background.
