Cold Steel AK-47 Field (CS14AKA) is a medium-sized knife with a fixed blade, the name and its aggressive design refer to the bayonets dedicated to the famous rifle. The knife blade is made of CPM 3V powder steel, which has an excellent reputation. Due to the use of a large amount of sintered carbides, this material guarantees an extremely high strength of the cutting edge, ensuring a very long maintenance of the working sharpness of the tool. At the same time, the steel is extremely resistant to cracks and chipping, thanks to which it can easily cope with all difficult tasks, such as chopping, baring, etc. CPM 3V is also relatively resistant to corrosion, and thanks to the DLC coating (Diamond Like Carbon) it is also resistant to all scratches.
The handle is made of black G10 material. This laminate of glass fiber and epoxy resin is characterized by very high strength, both to mechanical damage and, among others, temperature, humidity, acids and solvents. For better adhesion, the material is finished with a special, rough texture.
The handle has been profiled to ensure maximum ergonomics of the grip. The finger grooves ensure that it fits securely in the hand, especially in combination with the textured G10. Although the knife does not have a prominent handguard, typical of many military designs, it is replaced by a deep undercut for the index finger. Thanks to this, the hand is fully protected against possible slipping on the blade.
The knife has a sheath made of Secure-Ex®. The material guarantees a perfect fit with the tool, completely securing it against accidental slippage, etc. The scabbard is equipped with a series of holes and grommets. With their help, we can easily mount the knife in many positions.
