The Ultimate Hunter Lockback is a durable everyday knife manufactured by Cold Steel. Although the American company offers primarily a number of large, typically off-road tools, smaller structures, designed as EDC, are also increasingly appearing in the assortment. The Cold Steel folder was designed by the famous knifemaker Andrew Demko and the company's president - Lynn C. Thompson.
S35VN stainless steel was used to make the Ultimate Hunter knife. This is an improved version of the classic S35V, which has been eagerly used for years in premium products of the best knife brands, such as Spyderco. The addition of niobium makes the steel noticeably more durable and equally resistant to wear. The S35VN also has a much finer grain structure than its predecessor. The handle is made of durable black G10 plastic. The material, which is a glass fiber laminate, is characterized by lightness, as well as very high strength and durability.
The shape of the Ultimate Hunter model refers to the classic, hunting designs. The blade with a classic drop point profile is characterized by exceptional versatility of use and can easily cope with all everyday tasks. The high, flat grinding of the wide blade guarantees excellent cutting parameters. The curved handle is properly profiled so that the work with the tool is as comfortable as possible. Medium-sized crossguard prevents fingers from slipping on the blade. In turn, the widening of the end of the grip prevents the knife from slipping out of tired hands. At the end of the handle, just in front of the pommel, there are deep, transverse ribs that provide a firm support for the thumb, e.g. when performing more precise works. The layered structure of G10 is reminiscent of the grain pattern of wood.
The folder is opened with a convenient, double-sided peg. The lock used in the Ultimate Hunter model is the famous Tri-Ad Lock. The knife is equipped with a double-sided clip that allows it to be attached in a pocket or on a belt. At the end of the handle there is a hole for an additional securing cord.
