The Talwar Lockback is another large folding knife from the American brand Cold Steel. The company is associated primarily with the production of high-class white weapons and large military knives. Many models from the manufacturer's offer are inspired by historical or traditional melee weapons from different regions of the world. The same is the case with the Talwar model. Its name comes from the curved saber used by Sikhs. The general shape of the tool also strongly resembles the Indian prototype. The folder was designed by the renowned knifemaker Andrew Demko and the president of the Cold Steel brand, Lynn C. Thompson.
The knife was made of high-class S35VN steel. This is an improved version of the classic S35V, which has been eagerly used for years in premium products of the best knife brands, such as Spyderco. The addition of niobium makes the steel noticeably more durable and equally resistant to wear. The S35VN also has a much finer grain structure than its predecessor. The handle is made of durable black G10 plastic. The material, which is a glass fiber laminate, is characterized by lightness, as well as very high strength and durability.
The distinctive curved blade is the most recognizable feature of the Cold Steel Talwar. The trailing point profile provides a very penetrating, yet durable tip. Thanks to this, the folder is great for punching various types of materials. The two-inch wide blade in combination with the full flat grind provides excellent cutting properties. The shape of the hilt also refers to the characteristic grip of a Talwar saber. Interesting, deep profiling ensures perfect ergonomics of use. The recesses give a firm support to the fingers and at the same time allow the knife to be used in various positions. The handle is also very long, so it is possible to hold the tool in the right place depending on the work at hand.
The knife is opened using the so-called wave, so it can be spread in a fraction of a second, e.g. on the edge of a pocket. The famous Tri-Ad Lock was used as a blockade, ensuring great security and durability. The folder is equipped with a comfortable, wide clip, with which it is possible to carry the knife in a pocket or, for example, on a belt. There is a hole at the end of the handle for a safety cable to pass through.
Cold Steel Talwar is another product of the American brand, inspired by traditional melee weapons. A large folder can easily handle any heavy camp work. Despite its size, the knife is also not particularly cumbersome to carry on a daily basis, so it can be the basis of an urban EDC. If you are looking for a high-quality knife, the Cold Steel product will surely interest you.
