Spec Plus SP1 Combat is a modernized version of the classic military knives, produced by the famous Ontario brand. The model was designed as part of the Spec Plus Next Generation series. It is a line of tools that are intended to serve soldiers, uniformed services officers, survivalists and rescuers.
The knife is made of 1095 carbon steel. This material is characterized by excellent cutting aggression and durability. Due to the susceptibility of steel to corrosion, the blade of the SP1 Combat model was covered with a special protective coating. It also protects the blade against mechanical damage such as scratches. The knife is highly hardened to the level of approx. 56-58 HRC, which translates into great sharpness. The handle is made of a modern material - black craton. This rubber-like material has excellent grip. It is also resistant to various chemicals and non-flammable. In combination with deep texturing, the knife holds very firmly, even in the toughest conditions.
The design of the SP1 Combat model directly refers to classic military constructions. At first glance, associations such as the Ka-bar mk2 and other patterns used by the US military come to mind. The Ontario brand knife is not just a duplication, but a modernization of traditional designs. The main change is the handle which, while maintaining the classic style, has gained additional, anatomical profiling. Thanks to it, the tool is much more secure and comfortable in the hand, maintaining grip even in the most difficult conditions. An additional convenience is a relatively large handguard, which effectively protects the fingers against accidental slipping on the blade. The blade with a clip-point profile, in turn, resembles classic bowie constructions. The knife has a penetrating and durable tip that allows, despite its size, many precise works. The tool has a relatively low flat grinding that gives the appropriate sharpness and durability of the cutting edge. Thanks to this, the SP1 Combat is perfect for tasks such as baring or chopping. At the end of the handle you will find a hole for a rope with which you can additionally secure the knife.
The Ontario SP1 Combat model comes with a durable nylon scabbard fastened with press studs. It securely secures the blade and allows you to conveniently carry the knife on the belt, attach it to a backpack, etc.
