5.11 Tactical – From a Passion for Climbing to a Worldwide Recognizable Brand

The history of 5.11 Tactical, an American company, is closely tied to a couple of climbing pioneers in Yosemite – Liz and Royal Robbins. Conquering (often for the first time) exceptionally difficult peaks in the 1960s, they noticed a lack of suitable clothing that wouldn't restrict movement or hinder climbing and would offer proper durability. Eventually, Royal Robbins decided to design and create pants based on his extensive traveling experiences.
